James Buchanan’s grave site needs a complete landscape makeover. It has the reputation of being the worst maintained presidential gravesite of all of our deceased presidents.

I don’t remember it being that bad, but the cemetery overall looked pretty run-down. Buchanan’s grave could use a little landscaping, to be sure, but as least it has some landscaping. A lot of Presidents’ graves are just headstones in a cemetery.

But being partly blamed for letting The Civil War happen might be a reason for the neglect.

I went there yesterday. I agree it’s the worst Ive visited. I’ve seen 34 of the 38. The grass needed cutting, there were headstones tumbled over and no markers to lead you to the grave. Other president’s graves were simple but well maintained.

i was at his grave today. what a mess. the whole cemetary is in a general state of disrepair. tombstones toppled, several crypts with the tops shattered and caved in. our 15th president deserves better than this!
